Cannot receive advertised speeds

Condointernet.net strives to ensure customer satisfaction by engineering our backbone links with plenty of overhead to guarantee paramount connectivity. Typically, other ISPs over subscribe their connections beyond acceptable margins. Not us.
With this in mind, Condointernet.net continually monitors backbone activity and tests every customer connection for proper as-advertised throughput levels. Even so, some customers may still not be receiving their fully subscribed speeds. Here are a few common issues that may cause this:

  • Use of a non-approved wired router, slower than advertised speeds could occur. The reason for this is simply that most consumer routers are not designed to handle such fast connections and do not have the processing power to obtain the full throughput of our connections.
  • Connecting wirelessly. Even through the use of new 802.11n standards, customers are unable to get full speeds through wireless connections. This is simply a limitation of the wireless spectrum standards itself which is subject to interference and wireless cross-talk. Typically, the luxury of using a wireless connection outweighs this performance hit. Wireless connections on our service will still perform better than most providers. However, for the best speeds, use a wired connection when possible.
  • Local network saturation. Other computers within your network can eat up a large a portion of your network throughput. Sharing a connection through a router (barring the above faults of most consumer routers, as stated above) could cause some slow downs in speeds. For example, If one computer on your network is saturating your connection, you may experience slow downs. For the best speeds, you can bypass your router and plug a computer directly into our service.
  • Use of an outdated computer. Our ultra-high speed service is encroaching speed levels where older computers cannot take full advantage of our service. Upgrades to your computer may be needed in order to receive full connectivity.
  • Inaccurate speed test results. Many speed test websites do not have the capacity to accurately portray your network capacity on our ultra-high speed service. Please use the Seattle, WA server at: http://www.speedtest.net for the most accurate test. Furthermore, even our speed test server is subject to portray inaccurate results particularly in upload speed tests due to the algorithms in use which are catered toward slower connections.
  • Web server congestion. Some websites could be saturated at the server (often at peak times) and respond very slowly to your queries. Since this is many layers beyond our network, there is little we can do if this is occurring since we don’t manage those web servers.

Any of these points (or combination of) could potentially cause a user slower than advertised speeds, affecting user experience. If none of these points still apply to you please contact us for further troubleshooting.

Connection Settings

Typically all customer connections are set up for Automatic or DHCP settings. Some connections however, are set up using a statically assigned IP address. If you need your connection settings or your IP address information please refer to your customer documentation or contact our support department.

Does CondoInternet have a newsgroup/Usenet server?

Yes we do! Simply go to news.condointernet.net. No authentication is required—-you simply need to be a CondoI customer and configure your preferred newsreader to use news.condointernet.net as its server.

Can I still get TV in my unit?

Our service comes in on the existing data cables coming into your unit, typically CAT3 or CAT5 cabling. For our Ethernet-based buildings we will switch a jack out to an RJ-45 wall plate, and for our VDSL buildings this remains an RJ-11 plate. Our infrastructure does not use coaxial cable or hinder any use of available coax jacks in your unit. You can sign up for TV service through the provider of your choice.
